Carvings and More

Over time, I have become interested in other art forms including wood carving, glass etching, clay sculpture, and resin work. By adding these, I have been able to create wall hangings, personalized night lights, holiday decorations and ornaments and so much more.

On this page I will highlight many of my projects. Some are in private collections, others are available for purchase. Please check back often to see my new pieces.

Carvings

The Carvings – Each is hand carved and one of a kind. All are of my own design, some being based on my original paintings. Some have been colored with pastels, acrylic paints, or pyrography, but most are left natural with a protective coating of varnish or oil. Many are award winning carvings.

Halloween Tea Light

The tea light is made with Apoxie Sculpt. The ghosts each contain a battery operated tea light. Mica, pastels and acrylic paints were also used. Private collection.

On Guard - Coaster

4" x 4" wood blank faced with Apoxie Sculpt. The insert is a clay disc with one of my black and white prints transferred to it and finished with an alcohol ink wash and a protective coat of ArtResin.

How it was made

One of a kind

Night Light

This night light was created for an ArtResin challenge. I wanted to do a project that would show one of the many ways I use ArtResin besides making jewelry and coasters.

How it was made

Steps 1 to 3

How it Was Made

Hand made molds: I used plasticine to make one mold and silicone caulking for the other three. Materials for the panels: ArtResin, Apoxie Sculpt, pigment colors and mica for resin, pigment Posca pen for details.

Step 2

Each of the panels has a hand drawn sketch, using a black Posca pigment pen.

Step 3

Once the pigment has dried, a top coat of clear ArtResin is applied. Once cured, demold then clean the edges and assemble.

A base was made wit Apoxie Sculpt (open on the bottom for the remote controlled puck light). The sides and top were assembled using E6000 glue. It was now ready to apply the Apoxie Sculpt detailing.

Step 5

Completed, adding depth with tree branches and base details.
