I was born in High River, the heart of Alberta’s horse and cattle country and developed a love for horses. I have to admit to passing many an hour putting my dreams on paper. I credit my grandfather, a jockey, with helping me learn to capture the individual personality of each horse.

I graduated from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology with a diploma in Architectural Technology and pursued a career with a prominent architectural firm in Edmonton. Later, when at home raising my family, my life long dream of breeding and showing horses became a reality. Unfortunately, my allergies to the horses and dust reached a point where I had to give up this lifestyle. I was now able to devote more time to my art. During these years I went from doing pastel portraits of animals to paintings and limited editions of children, wildlife, landscapes, sport and western scenes.

I work in oils, acrylics, pastels, clay and wood. My paintings have been used for magazine covers, calendars, trophies, corporate gifts, and fundraisers. The painting, Autumn Gold, was used by the Edmonton and Northern Alberta Crimestoppers as their 1997 telethon print. Both my paintings and carvings have won many awards including Collector’s Choice and Best of Show. I have previously been juried into the prestigious C. M. Russell Art Auction in Great Falls, Montana, and the Western Art Salon at the Calgary Stampede. I have also had the opportunity to be featured on T.V., in magazine articles, and to be the featured artist for the Calgary Stampede Western Art Gallery. My most notable commission was probably from Sport Images Inc. to do the five paintings for the limited edition print series commemorating the years “The Edmonton Oilers” won the Stanley Cup, (originals owned by Edmonton Northlands) and the painting “A Moment In Time” – a limited edition print featuring Vladislav Tretiak and Paul Henderson in the 1972 Canada / Russia Summit Series. However, every commission I receive is treated with equal importance and is not considered finished until my client and I are completely satisfied.

Several years ago I started wood carving and working with clay and am now designing and creating a line of handmade, one of a kind jewelry. The jewelry and portrait commissions have now become my focus so I don’t plan to do shows in the future. This decision will also give me time to enjoy my grandchildren and spend more time with my husband on our acreage.
